Phil Dirt - Reverb Central - PO Box 1609, Felton, CA 95018-1609 USA The Torpedoes - San Jose '95

 | Brian Pool just sent me this disc. The birth of the Torpedoes is captured in these two tracks from 1995. Recorded in-studio in 1995, they display a slower more deliberate Torpedoes with the crunch and power they were so famous for. While the speed would come later, these are nonetheless wonderful tracks from an original band now sadly gone. |

Surf (Instrumental)
Intensely optimistic and a little punkoidal, yet with a stock yard feel. Excellent guitarology from an aggressive Brian Pool, backed by the characteristically strong rhythm section of the Torpedoes. A blast.
Surf (Instrumental)
A frequent show stopper for the Torpedoes live, this studio take displays a slower deliberate Brian Pool delivering their famous crunch, while the lads chunk behind with punkin' power. Edgy and very cool.
