Phil Dirt - Reverb Central - PO Box 1609, Felton, CA 95018-1609 USA The Windows - Aloha Night

 | These live tracks were caught precariously on tape on July 31st, 2005 at 'Aloha Night' at the Baba Bar. Again I say, this band rocks! They need to be properly documented. In good quality sound, the Windows would rate 4 and 5 stars! This is really aggressive very traditional surf. |
Picks: High Tide, Hot Doggin', Pipeline '65, Time Bomb, XL-3
Track by Track Review
Surf (Instrumental)
While quite distorted, this is a heck of a rambunctious performance of Bob Summers' "High Tide." Excellent energy and power all decked out in intense full tilt playing. Yikes!
Surf (Instrumental)
This is a straight forward interpretation of the Astronauts' "Hot Doggin'," done in a very traditional style with complete abandon. This really doesn't hold anything back. Dripping wet!
Surf (Instrumental)
Big and dirty, and trashy too. Endless reverb crashes and power drive playing. I can't think of another track with more reverb crashes.
Surf (Instrumental)
This is a raucous rendition of the Avengers VI's "Time Bomb," rife with shouts and intense energy. There's no room to amp it up any more... wow!
Surf (Instrumental)
The Phantoms' "XL-3" rips and rumbles and grunts its way along with great whammy chords and relentless energy. The wild up-glissandos scream! Very cool!
