Picks: Three Minutes To Escape, Surfin' Mosquito, Inigo, The Longest Day
Track by Track Review
Surf (Instrumental)
A light guitar comes in gradually as "Three Minutes To Escape" begins. The song is a catchy riff driven thing with a bit of double picking in the jam-style bridges. It's sort of chop chordy, but also on the surf side. The delicate liquid break is really pretty.
Surf (Instrumental)
Kind of "Wipe Out" drums circle around until the meet of the track arrives. The riff is low and dark, and the glissandos pan across the monitors. Parts of "Surfin' Mosquito" are more compelling than others. The active panning of the drums and glissandos adds interest, as do the wild shouts.
Surf (Instrumental)
Trembling guitar sets the mood for this sad number. "Inigo" is pretty and shimmery and delicate. There's something going on here that is quite attractive. Kinda spooky, and a bit lagoon sultry.
Surf (Instrumental)
"The Longest Day" is more rock in style than surf. It plays well, with an easy energy and delicate twang.
