Chuck Wagon and the Wheels - Off The Top Ropedotdotdot
artworkChuck Wagon and the Wheels have been playing a cowboy parody brand of country for longer than cactus lined the planes. Well, maybe not that long, but for a good 20 years. Highly entertaining and unpretentious, and often rockin'. This CD includes transmuted and inverted songs like "Play That Country Music Cowboy," "Cupid," "Beauty Is In The Eye Of The Beerholder," and a too-much-fun rendition of the Surfaris' "Wipe Out."

Wipe Out dotdotdot
Cowboy Surf (Instrumental)

From a relatively strait beginning, the lads drop the tempo in half, and play with lap steel whine and grodie bass, alternating regular tempo drum breaks. It's all in good fun, and the crowd can't stop screaming. Twanged into cowboyland and humored up as all good songs must be when brought into the repertoire of Chuck Wagon and the Wheels. Yes, it's recognizable, no it's not trad, and maybe you'll get a kick outta the whole album and this will merely be your entree.
