Wadadli Riders - Made In Antiguadotdotdotdot
artworkMade In Antigua is a splendid release from Wadadli Riders, the only surfband in Antigua. There are a number of really superb tracks here. The sound is very traditional, but the melodies are influenced by the locale. Wonderful.

Track by Track Review

Dwell At 10 dotdotdotdot
Surf (Instrumental)

"Dwell At 10" certainly is! Dripping wet reverb and great drums ride powerfully atop rock solid bass. A strong surf riff, double picked power and whammy chords, and thundering surf imagery.

Caribbean Vibes dotdotdotdot
Surf (Instrumental)

Sparkling with tropical charm and melody imagery, "Caribbean Vibes" is a real joy to listen to. Its infectious optimism and surf energy really shine.

The Killer Wave dotdotdotdotdot
Surf (Instrumental)

This song is pretty optimistic and a bit playful, especially notable given its title. That contrast aside, great drums, wonderful tone and melody, and a great surf vibe permeate "The Killer Wave." This is a splendid track!

Brown Recluse dotdotdotdot
Surf (Instrumental)

"Brown Recluse" uses a tastefully employed melody riff to carry of its charm, but it's the cool chords that come out of the unexpected silences that really hook you. Lot's of spunk and charm, and plenty of listening pleasure. The muted dripping notes are just too cool!

Calm Before A Storm dotdotdotdot
Surf (Instrumental)

This is a slow moving track with a moody bass line. The melody line is on the worried side, yet it's calming. Quite pretty. OK, that's the intro, which is the "Calm Before A Storm." Once into the main body of the song, double picked energy and dribbled glissandos rip in a well metered race across a glassy wall. Very cool track!

Kawaramachi dotdotdot
Surf (Instrumental)

Modestly patient, "Kawaramachi" uses a circular melody riff and splashy tone. Light on personality, but all surf.

JBL D-130F dotdotdotdotdot
Surf (Instrumental)

The melody line here is playful and inventive. It cycles and glows with enthusiasm, and once the double picked midsection arrives, you're all hooked in. The muted middle is especially cool! I love this!

Mozipel Twist dotdotdotdot
Surf (Instrumental)

The beat and bass line from Eddie and the Showmen's "Mr. Rebel" launches this fine track, the rest of which is distant from the intro. Lots of reverb and a very good melody line. Glissandos and dribbling guitar lines.

Hurricane Season dotdotdotdotdot
Surf (Instrumental)

A rippin' double picked opening brings forth a very cool number with muted surf rhythm and a sparkling melody. "Hurricane Season" is a really cool track with an infectious sound. Adventure, optimism, and style! Solid bass and great drums support the guitar work.

Going My Wave dotdotdot
Surf (Instrumental)

Gentle island chord whammy and breezy melody lines portray a tropical vacation's easy pace and sunny disposition. "Going My Wave" is a very pretty track.
