Phil Dirt - Reverb Central - PO Box 1609, Felton, CA 95018-1609 USA | The Wadadi Riders are from Antigua - yes, a surfband has finally emerged from the Caribbean. Very cool to see this happening. These five tracks are extremely traditional demos, and they are very early in the band's development. |
Picks: Misirlou, Mr. Moto, Church Key, Comanche, Bustin' Surfboards

Surf (Instrumental)
Based on Dick Dale's eighties arrangement mostly, this version is solid and quite traditional. While it's definitely a bit of a muddy quality demo, it demonstrates the spunk of this emerging band.
Surf (Instrumental)
This is a nicely reverbed cover of Paul Johnson's signature tune. Not adventurous yet, but a very nice nod to the Belairs.
Surf (Instrumental)
This grode live take is raw and very vintage sounding. "Church Key" is one of those under done covers these days, and it's nice to hear this done with so much reverence.
Surf (Instrumental)
This is the raw Central Coast rage from the Revels. More reverbed, but otherwise very respectful of the song's roots.
Surf (Instrumental)
Another often overlooked classic is the (Hollywood) Tornadoes' "Bustin' Surfboards." This is perhaps the most reverent of the covers out there, except perhaps Jon & the Nightriders.
