Track by Track Review
Surf (Instrumental)
"Surfing In Chad" is dark and angular with mean glissandos and whammy chords. There's great danger to partake of the thrill of this ride! Big wham!
Surf (Instrumental)
The Ventures' classic tom-tom space surf epic "Journey To The Stars" is solidly performed, and in trio format, quite full.
Surf (Instrumental)
"Red Tide Sunset" is a tropical island breeze of a song. It's magnetic and unusual sound and rhythm are captivating. Inventive, infectious, restful, and pristine. The roto toms are too cool.
Surf (Instrumental)
Twangy in a "What'd I Say" kinda way, with the bass yearning for the lead that comes along soon enough. Playful and adventurous, and quite unusual. "Armageddon (Tired)" sports a different blend of elements to an enticing end. Excellent.
Surf (Instrumental)
Just a line or two between songs, but just imagine...
Surf (Instrumental)
What's really cool about this version of "Pipeline" is the whole middle verse with the theremin wailing a vibrant lead over the rhythmic backtrack. The whole track is spirited and tough anyway, but add the groovy midsection and viola!
Ain't Got No Surfboard Blues

Surf (Instrumental)
What a cool track. A very slow blues, double dribbled and whammied over a lumbering reverbed snare and low down bass line. It's a natural.
(Instrumental)
Dick Dale and his Del-tones' second most covered instrumental "The Wedge" gets the rhythm power treatment from Voodoo Court.
Surf (Instrumental)
Classic spy richly driven with Voodoo Court edge. These two often covered film themes are freshly arranged, keeping them cool.
Thumb's Up - A Shot In The Dark

(Instrumental)
"Thumb's Up" is on the pretty side, with dribbling drums and a fine a western melody line. The galloping cowboy beat and liquid bass line are very cool under the grodie guitar. "A Shot In The Dark" has been covered many times, but has never sounded like this. Tastefully true to the Mancini principle.
Surf (Instrumental)
I love this song! Spanish themes, an infectious melody, easy power. These elements subtlety combine to create a very cool track. I particularly like the liquid nature of "Lost In Mazatlan," with its almost tango or Flamenco feel. Excellent!
For The Love Of Neptunium

Surf (Instrumental)
This is a sinewy number with a cool breezy lazy summer island feel. Very pretty and airy, "For The Love Of Neptunium" relaxes and floats on air. Quite enjoyable.
(Instrumental)
Dick Dale's signature tune "Miserlou" is always cool to hear. Voodoo Court make it extra fun. Lots of energy as required.
(Instrumental)
Lee Hazelwood's amazing "Baja" is rearranged for trio, with throbbing rhythm and pumped up guitar. The chunkiness of the percussion and rhythm give this a totally different feel.
Surf (Instrumental)
"Badlands" is a lumbering cowboy's ride through a cactus field toward a sunset. There's danger ahead, but they only suspect the comeuppance that lies just beyond the next arroyo. Moody and very cool.
Surf (Instrumental)
Funky chicken sandwiches with "Cheese Wiz" and lettuce... that's about as close to this as I can get. Fun. This grows on you.
(Instrumental)
This is a slow and bluesy arrangement of "Sex Wacks." Jazzy and suave, with a smoky fifties feel about it. It's playful, and most unusual. The blues guitar approach takes it cross genre lines into several other categories, without actually leaving the surf neighborhood.
Surf (Instrumental)
Slowly rising from the silence, "Toxic Seaweed" moves inevitable to a tribal adventure on an open highway to faraway lands. Spunky fluid, it is sometimes misty, bright and flirtatious, but with edge. Cool!
(Instrumental)
This is more suave than a division of palace guards on Sunday afternoon. Lush solo guitar, soft bass, and a rhythmic shaker beautifully portray an island of swaying palms. It has the sadness of the last day in paradise before returning to your real life.
Surf (Instrumental)
"Eat Me" is about a shark. It's a grode tune, with spunky watery cow punk edge and lunch written all over it. The theremin ads strangeness.
Surf (Instrumental)
"Third Times A Charm" uses string bending and whammy the way Henry Mancini used horn glissandos. Jazzy, dark, disturbed, and unique. Spies on surfboards with horizontal black and white stripes wet suits and red berets. It's both quirky and infectious.
