 | Voodoo Court came by to play in the pit after several aborted attempts to coordinate our schedules. It was worth the wait. They are crunch based life forms with distortion and reverb. A unique band. |

"Eat Me" is about a shark, a mean nasty primitive luncheon date you wanna miss. Powerful and chunky to the max. Relentless rhythmic spunky watery cow punk rescue swimmer music, with ingratitude written all over it.
Gamma Ray On a Summer's Day

Surf (Instrumental)
The writing here has the feel of a darkened Mark Brodie from his Beaver Patrol days. "Gamma Ray On a Summer's Day" grumbles with angry optimism.
Surf (Instrumental)
This rhythmic and surfy tune sports a kinda Beach Boys groove. Edging on infectious, "Every Last One Of Them" is very crunch oriented, while holding bounce near and dear to its heart.
Surf (Instrumental)
Egad, this is sooo cool live! A funky bass line opens this cool number. It has a jazzy feel, almost exotic, maybe even Pink Panther-ish. ItŐs pretty enough, and it eventually yields to a more adventurous thing that has mystery and progressive ideas. Distortion, dynamics, and a big wide grin. Way more sophisticated than your average surf tune. This ended up on Gnarly Reef.
Surf (Instrumental)
Funky chicken sandwiches with "Cheese Wiz" and lettuce... that's about as close to this as I can get. Fun and groovy.
Surf (Instrumental)
Grumblier live than on their album, with massively mean double picked guitar, pumped up by dramatic chop chords, then an even bigger grind. Not melodic, but interesting nonetheless and huge.
Surf (Instrumental)
I love "Hydrogen Highway." It's a great way to power down an open road towards big surf. Fast and spunky, it has a fine melody line and an infectious beat, as well as a real feel of the surf and the open road. Excellent. Mark was miffed at the dirty sound of his guitar, but I think it adds a real grit to this highly rhythmic track.
Surf (Instrumental)
Spanish themes, crunchy sounds, infectious melody, power and subtlety combine to create a rather spiffy track. I particularly like the fluidity of the song, almost tango or Flamenco like. It has the same sort of chorded power and feel as the Torpedoes' "Spanish Main," but it is more melodic and less thrashy. Live, it sports bigger power and lots of edge. I love this!
Surf (Instrumental)
Dark crunch and twang rhythms dominate this track. Not exactly catchy, yet enderaing and fluid. A fine melody line and dark edge.
Surf (Instrumental)
Big thrashy intense and dangerous, this groans and growls, thrashews glissandoes, and mumbles insantities amidst a terrifying short board assault on a wave way too big.
Surf (Instrumental)
This is a shallowly whammified track with an infectious rhythm a lot of energy. It rolls and it rocks, with a swaying motion.
