 | The set of mp3 files contains some inventive and some very nice tracks, and some not so interesting material as well. The low quality of the mp3 files creates anomalies that detract from enjoyment. I would like to get decent dubs, particularly of "Paint It Black." |
Picks: Apache, Day A The Drag Races, Duke's Blues, Paint It Black, Peace Pipe
Track by Track Review
Rock (Instrumental)
The melody isn't quite right, but the piano is very nice, and the idea good. Not really memorable, though.
Blues (Instrumental)
"Day A The Drag Races" is a rock instro with organ and a kind of bluesy feel. Not particularly original or interesting.
Duke's Blues
Blues (Instrumental)
A pedestrian blues instro with nothing to really set it apart from the pack.
Rock (Instrumental)
This is one fine idea just waiting for decent sound. Aggressive modern surf with with feedback. Rising from a feedback fuzz, the rumble of the drums and bass quickly take over, as does the feedback. Double picked intensity, big chords, and those ska lines are just too cool! An original and very cool arrangement! Murky sound. Oh for a decent recording! Lines from "Pipeline" interact with the Stones' classic.
Rock (Instrumental)
This is a very reverent version of the Shadows song. Simple and pretty with a smooth flow. The keys are a very nice touch.
