John Van Horn - I've Got The Curedotdotdotdot
artworkJohn Van Horn played with Link Wray for years in The Fender Benders, and in Link's backup band. So, naturally, there are some classic instros here! Very cool!
Picks: Savage, Run Chicken Run, Rumble

Track by Track Review

Savage dotdotdotdot
Rock (Instrumental)

"Savage" has the Link Wray melody and arrangement feel, but I don't think it's a cover. The tone is less gritty, especially in that there are multiple guitars harmonizing with each other, one of which employs feedback sustain. The drums are a little too clean, but for the most part, that does not detract from the big guitar coolness that this song embodies.

Run Chicken Run dotdotdot
Rock (Instrumental)

Link Wray and his Raymen's "Run Chicken Run" is drenched in updated grit and free range clucking. It's a rippin' version with lots of cool guitar work and interplay, plus bass glissandos.

Rumble dotdotdotdot
Rock (Instrumental)

Link Wray and his Raymen's "Rumble" is big and dangerous, with feedback sustain and the right feel. This is quite a solid version, with extreme reverence. Heavy modern grunge for a post-Link world.
