Phil Dirt - Reverb Central - PO Box 1609, Felton, CA 95018-1609 USA The Untamed Youth - Some Kinda Fun

 | The Untamed Youth's early Norton LP sports three surf instros, and points to a much stronger sound to come with the next album. The garage and surf vocals are pretty cool too! |
Picks: Pabst Blue Ribbon, One Pine Box
Track by Track Review
Surf (Instrumental)
"Pabst Blue Ribbon" is really the Original Surfaris' stomper "Moment Of Truth" with a bit of "Church Key" thrown in for disguise. It is not as punchy as later Untamed Youth recordings, but rather is more frat-like. Still, it's a butt mover and a solid surf track.
Surf (Instrumental)
This is the only cover I can recall of The Royal Flairs' "One Pink Box." It's done well, is quite spunky, and includes the edited-in hammer action.
Surf (Instrumental)
This is a pretty raw cover of the Richie Podolor-Hondells tune. It's a good track, but unremarkable.
