Track by Track Review
Radical Gypsy Twang (Instrumental)
This is a very fun and bouncy number with a gypsy beat and cowboy twang led by the sweetest violin. Imagine The Blues Project on a desert trip. This is really superb!
Radical Texas Funk (Instrumental)
"Shaft" goes to the Texas coast in search of new curl. The blend of funk wah wah, country rock, and violin flashed me back to the early days of prog and Cat Mother and the All Night News Boys. This is really quite remarkable.
Surf (Instrumental)
This is a hybrid of signature lines from various tracks caught live. The "Miserlou" extract is short, but very cool, making me ask "why oh why is this show not out there in its entirety." Also here are bits of "Wipe Out." As tempting as it gets.
Radical Texas Surf (Instrumental)
What an interesting combination of sounds. Samba's romance twanged through surf's primal nature, spiked with superb violin, and all blended in an Austin barbecue sauce. "Surf Samba" is a superb track that brings you back for more.
