Track by Track Review

Chagrin de la Mar dotdotdotdot
Surf (Instrumental)

This is a very nice track. Slow and moody, "Chagrin de La Mar" portrays a sad day, a loss being soothed by the relentless wash of the swells that cleans the soul. A very soothing track.

Penetration dotdotdot
Surf (Instrumental)

This is a straightforward cover of the Pyramids' "Penetration" with gentle delay that creates an atmospheric ambiance which gives it a moody sadness. Nice arrangement.

Surfer's Lament dotdotdotdot
Surf (Instrumental)

Atmospheric and moody, "Surfer's Lament" creates a sullen surf image, a tribal funeral on the curl. Compellingly haunting. This is not the Lively Ones' song.

The Runaway dotdotdotdot
Surf (Instrumental)

I like the way the delay and atmospherics create a mood here. "The Runaway" is cautiously optimistic and very well done. The emotional hooks are effective, and the wash surf imagery everpresent.

With No Definite Future (And No Purpose Other Than To Prevail Somehow...) dotdotdotdot
Surf (Instrumental)

Jim Thomas' sad epic "With No Definite Future (And No Purpose Other Than To Prevail Somehow...)" is lovingly covered. The production is quite appropriate, and the care taken to retain the emotional content much appreciated by me. Nice going guys.
