Tres Gatos - S/Tdotdotdot
artworkSanta Barbara's latest development is a cross between the blues, psychedelic, and surf. Some fine guitar work, and some demented arrangements of classics, like the utterly amazing cover of "Bang A Gong (Get It On)."
Picks: Miserlou, Buzz 4 Stevie, Moondoggie, Bad Cop

Track by Track Review

Miserlou dotdotdot
Surf (Instrumental)

The guitar is of the Hollywood Surfers sound, dry but abrasive and double picked well, and incorporating harmonics into the glissandoes. The pace is on the slow side, and the power restrained, but it's quite effective and fun.

Buzz 4 Stevie dotdotdot
Rock (Instrumental)

"Buzz 4 Stevie" is wah-wah driven, melodically bluesy, and mid tempo heavy. Lots of blues jammin' in a post Hendrix world.

Moondoggie dotdotdot
Surf (Instrumental)

Relatively dry guitar and a catchy low down riff, some bluesy jammin', and a grumbly bass with surf drums... "Moondoggie" is pretty cool.

Bad Cop dotdotdot
Jazzy Blues (Instrumental)

"Bad Cop" is a kinda bluesy jazzy rambler, with a grumbly feel and raw power. More jammy than a song, but by two minutes in, it really starts to rock!
