The Tommys - Grow Finsdotdotdotdot
artworkThis Brisbane trio sports Jonathan 'Ike' Lickliter (End / Died Pretty / Dobbs and the Ludebakers) - bass/vocals, Rob 'Viva' Lastdrager (Stiff Kittens / T-Bones) - drums/vocals, and Oliver Laurie (Beach Nuts / Exotics / Speedway) - guitar/vocals. Their only other output is a pair of tracks on the illusive Surforama compilation on Pink Flamingo. Much of the CD is comprised of great vocal rock and roll with titles like "How Am I To Know," "Grow Fins," "Nowhere Round," and "Funeral Creek."
Picks: Thruster, White Eye, Pharoah

Track by Track Review

Thruster dotdotdotdot
Surf (Instrumental)

Slicing and dicing a ten-foot face like a tri-fin, "Thruster" races across a mean wave of reverb and thrills. An excellent surf instrumental with lots of power and dashing flair. Too cool.

White Eye dotdotdot
Surf (Instrumental)

A blast of thrashing reverb and drum wrangle shreds the calm and pummels the night. fast double picked surf rage, let loose on an unsuspecting world. Very powerful.

Pharoah dotdotdotdot
Surf (Instrumental)

This is a very cool track, smooth and mystical, with a great rambling gate and stereo delayed reverb lead guitar. All this gives it an interesting sound that brings you back. Quite interesting.
