Phil Dirt - Reverb Central - PO Box 1609, Felton, CA 95018-1609 USA The Tiki Men - The Good Life

 | Again, The Tiki Men are held back by cruddy sound. The band seems to have a tuff surf sound, and they play really well. The writing is often very strong. The lo-fi sound hides much of what they have to offer. |

Surf (Instrumental)
Lo-fi trash with a catchy rhythm. "The Good Life" has is based on a nifty melody idea and a rhythm liberated from a sixties obscuro.
Surf (Instrumental)
"Fairfield Fiasco" is a modestly paced number with a fine melody line and cool rhythm Its pace fits the melody well. The tom toms are very cool, as is the writing.
Theme From The Unknown
Surf (Instrumental)
Davie's tune trashed... both in the sense of performance and recording. Horrid sound [surprise!]. Davie Allan did this numerous times quite well. Trashing it is not a tribute. This is just ugly.
That's The Way It Goes
Surf (Instrumental)
Thrashy riff rock with distortion and dissonant sound. Great drums, but otherwise little more than a noisy jam.
