 | Telekrimen (aka T.V. Crimmen) produce truly original sounds. Let me see if I can describe the concoction that is Telekrimen. I knew a fellow many years ago who got into Captain Beefheart quite by accident by using Trout Mask Replica to drive his college dorm roommate out so he could study. He slowly became enchanted with the Captain's music, one day realizing he had become a fan. I can easily imagine using Telekrimen's music for the same purpose, only to discover it's become ingrained in your psyche. It's surely weird, possible even demented, but there's just some attractive about it. Not for those wising to avoid disturbance of the reverb mind. |

Track by Track Review
Space Surf (Instrumental)
This is a dark and weird number, with phase-separated lead and a desperately futurist pattern. It's ugly and stark in a spacy way, but also endearing like weird uncle Harry.
Space Surf (Instrumental)
Kinda "Telstar"-like, this choppy dark space instro is robotic and space invader dangerous. Very much like a fifties b-movie.
Space Surf (Instrumental)
Slow and sludgy, "Cocktail Marciano" has grown on me over time. What began as repulsion, transitioned through disbelief into an odd kind of warmth. The note warping is disquieting, or more precisely, it's unnerving. Very strange, and quite imaginative.
Space Surf (Instrumental)
Mid tempo weirdness, keyboard warbly, and almost amusing. Sorta surf guitar plays an Eastern melody line against whirring keys and crude bass and drums. Like others here, once you get what Telekrimen are doing, their weirdness becomes enchanting in a tortured grin kinda way.
El Ultimo Delosplanetas (ultimo master)

Space Surf (Instrumental)
"El Ultimo Delosplanetas (ultimo master)" starts out like it's going to be pretty normal, with a great and creative eat and guitar lines, then settles into a sad guitar run and funeral organ. I hate to admit it, but I like this a lot. It's disturbed, aurally difficult, oddly mixed, repetitious, and yet it's fun and cool.
Space Surf (Instrumental)
Muted reverb rhythm, high bass, cool drums, and distant spy-ish guitar lines. Relentlessly hemmed in by a never ending pattern, but different enough to be engaging.
Space Surf (Instrumental)
Shimmering tremolo, moody bass, and a slowish pace provide ambiance for "Hombre Al Agua." Hinting at danger, it's a minimalist number that's spooky and fun.
Las Creaturas Del Dr. Moro

Space Surf (Instrumental)
Big chord reverb distantly warns of the dangers of Dr. Moro's creation (reference to The island of Dr. Moro). The organ whistles in the most ominous way before taking on an almost carnival madhouse run. Way cool.
Surf (Instrumental)
This is perhaps the only really surf track here. Double picked lines, percussive runs, and a genuine surf melody line. Big delay-separated chops add to the mystery. Very cool!
Space Surf (Instrumental)
A big wham-bam intro, couple with distant cries and wind, bring on a chunky relentless rhythm and keyboard attach that are very cool! Warbly string slides and dark energy complete the picture. Psychoactive and very interesting.
Space Surf (Instrumental)
Liquid chords and moody bass support the weird keys and serial guitar lines. "Somos Zombies" is quite a disturbed track, like surfing at the nut house. Very cool!
Space Surf (Instrumental)
The engine roars as the cars slide by. Big guitar lines ensue with a solid beat. Some lines muted, some open, all quite surfable. Nice track.
