Track by Track Review

Lame de Fond dotdotdotdotdot
Surf (Instrumental)

Thick whammy chords add character to a simple riff in the opening, which becomes the rhythm riff to the tremolo twang and double picked melody lines. Great drums and grumbling bass complete the arrangement. At times, "Lame de Fond" reminds me of "Jack The Ripper," but only slightly. This is a very cool track that grows on you.

Barbatruc dotdotdotdot
Surf (Instrumental)

Great drums and galloping cactus rhythm support a fanciful rockabilly melody line. Double picked dribbling picnic playfulness. This is all about fun!

Trappeur dotdotdotdot
Surf (Instrumental)

Tremolo charm and danger, whammy chords, glissandos, thundering bass, and drum magic give "Trappeur" a splendid sense of power and the sea. Really well written and arranged.

Walking dotdotdot
Surf (Instrumental)

A walking bass line and cool beat groove under a jazzy fifties style riff and structure. "Walking" is all period fun.

1-2-3... Go! dotdotdotdot
Surf (Instrumental)

Dark guitar and big thump, thundering attack, and dueling guitars. This is big and loud, a tiny nit jammy, but not so you'll complain. There's a ton of energy and great playing here.

Montreal Surf dotdotdotdotdot
Surf (Instrumental)

The throb of the tremolo guitar, and darkness of the brooding bass, are a great match for the drums. The two guitars play complimentary riffs that really make this a wonderful track. "Montreal Surf" grows on you. I know, so do warts, but there aren't any of those here. Superb!

Hot-Rod dotdotdotdot
Surf (Instrumental)

Muted reverb rhythm and dark tone give rise to a melody line that's a continuation of the rhythm. Grand glissandos and stereo hot rod wailing. Very cool!

Sex On The Beach dotdotdotdot
Surf (Instrumental)

This is an optimistic track with a touch of Spain, or maybe gypsies. Either way, "Sex On The Beach" is all pleasure. Some drama, whammy twang, and delightful playing.

Maree Noire dotdotdotdotdot
Surf (Instrumental)

Totally cool tribal drums and bass thunder, along with dribbling double picked lead guitar perfectly paint a picture of danger on the curl counterbalanced by the thrill of the ride. "Maree Noire" is an amazingly well developed track.

Le Patriote dotdotdotdotdot
Surf (Instrumental)

Rising from dark sustain, tribal thunder supports some very cool guitar lines, including active panned glissandos. "Le Patriote" is a thrilling track full of adventure and power. Even the chorus adds to the story line! I love this!

Caballero dotdotdotdotdot
Surf (Instrumental)

Big drama and great drums, glorious guitar, and superbly well suited bass! This is a speedy power rush born on the solar wind. I feel like I need to tell you again about the shredding guitar and monster bass, and those amazing drums, but alas, I think you get the picture. Wow!

Piranhas dotdotdotdot
Surf (Instrumental)

Muted guitar lines and relentless punkoidal drums and bass thump and grind wit high energy and power. Big whammy chords and a fine circular melody line. A grand short drum break adds moxie.

L'ile Aux Folles dotdotdotdotdot
Surf (Instrumental)

laughter and super shred double picked punk guitar races toward oblivion. Man-oh-man, does this rip. It's as close to Armageddon's "Buzzard" as any surf instro has ever come, and faster!

Matin de Lune dotdotdotdot
Surf (Instrumental)

Finally, the energy level drops to a gentle romantic pace with this lush track. At this point in the CD, you need a break. Very pretty and easy to take.
