Conrad Swartz - Dark Surfdotdotdot
artworkConrad Swartz constructed this solo project with a different take on four melodies. the textures are thick and nerve-wracking, with original intense twang and edge. Of particular note is the complete reworking of "Apache."
Picks: Flamenco Man, Puppetor, James Bond Theme, Apache

Track by Track Review

Flamenco Man dotdotdot
Surf (Instrumental)

This is an interesting idea... flamenco and combo rock drums. It works pretty well, with a fine riff and rhythmic structure. Edgy textures and just enough oddness to keep it interesting throughout.

Puppetor dotdotdot
Surf (Instrumental)

"Puppetor" sports a traditional ominous children's "we're comin' to get you" melody. Dark textures and warped tone add to the nightmare feel. very cool. "Puppetor" is based on the Alfred Hitchcock's theme song, extracted from "Funeral March of a Marionette" by the French composer Gounod.

James Bond Theme dotdotdot
Guitar (Instrumental)

Rhythmic and grindy, demented and twisted, unnerving and angular, this interpretation of the "James Bond Theme" is quite unique. Definitely not for a calm afternoon snooze.

Apache dotdotdotdot
Surf (Instrumental)

This is a really intense variation on Jerry Lordan's classic instro. The melody is there, but the arrangement is completely different, with grodie gloomy textures replacing the reverb and twang bows and arrows. Very cool indeed.
