The Surfmotherfuckers - Solano Stardotdotdotdot
artworkYikes! What's in the water in Brazil? The Surfmotherfuckers deliver one hellova punch! Thick whammy, dark themes, evil samples.... 8 monstrous instros and two vocals, "Let's Lynch The Landlord" and "Private Idaho." 'T'ain't no two ways to it, this is very unique, like a cross between Israel's Astroglides, Belgium's O'Haras, San Francisco's Planet Seven, and a gloomy Saturday night on Sci-Fi. Not for the delicate, but definitely powerful and original.
Picks: Penetration, Sadomasofuckers, Killing An Arab, Bacterial Splash, Hyde Park, Solano Star, El Nuelo De Chiuauas, End Credits

Track by Track Review

Penetration dotdotdotdot
Sci-Fi Surf (Instrumental)

radio hash and an electronic voice welcomes you to the big sound of intense wham driven ultra warbled assault on what's definitely not a trad treatment of the Pyramids' "Penetration." It's a monstrous power assault original with sci-fi danger as the focus.

Sadomasofuckers dotdotdotdot
Sci-Fi Surf (Instrumental)

Extra thick textures and intense sound guide this dark melodic cruncher. It's miles from the coast, heading beachward from a heavy prog platform of post Krautrock dissonance. very interesting.

Killing An Arab dotdotdotdot
Sci-Fi Surf (Instrumental)

The Cure's "Killing An Arab" gets toughened up and guitar charged, with a huge spooky sound and a significant slab of whammy. Glissandoes and grind, with lots of attack.

Bacterial Splash dotdotdotdot
Sci-Fi Surf (Instrumental)

From the labs of death comes this dark and powerful twangmaster. "Bacterial Splash" is more about relentless long chords and gloom than a song, like a Link Wray groove. Pretty intense.

Hyde Park dotdotdot
Sci-Fi Surf (Instrumental)

More musical and very crunchy, like an Astroglides tune, or maybe early Planet Seven. Many changes joined by samples and moans, and a thick sound. Powerful and gloomy.

Solano Star dotdotdotdotdot
Sci-Fi Surf (Vocal)

Very smooth and groovy, "Solano Star" floats on a ringing twang of delicate danger and semi tranquil meanness, punctuated with power chords. It's easy to see why this very cool tune is the title track! Powerful and rich.

El Nuelo De Chiuauas dotdotdotdotdot
Sci-Fi Surf (Instrumental)

Mariachi horns in the distance, a warbling guitar melody, and then, an up front power play. Fine melody, flamenco underpinnings, modern power, and surf sensibilities. Minor comparisons to the O'Haras can be made. Very cool track!

End Credits dotdotdot
Sci-Fi Surf (Instrumental)

"End Credits" is short live outro that fades way too soon.
