Track by Track Review

Big Pounder dotdotdotdot
Surf (Instrumental)

"Big Pounder" features a very nice melody with a deep rich vintage sound, backed by piano and bass and drums for a way-back experience. Moody and reverby and very cool!

Dana Point dotdotdotdotdot
Surf (Instrumental)

Structured a lot like Super Stocks' song, with bell-like keys and surf guitar. This is a pretty unusual and cool song with a sound that hints at the Richie Podolor studio sessions of old.

Drag-u-la Beat dotdotdotdot
Surf (Instrumental)

Dracula's laugh, a Mission Impossible kind of back-riff, and very cool heavily reverbed lead guitar. "Drag-u-la Beat" is a splendid song with a dark sound and feel, and hot rods racing through the middle. The piano circulating i the middle adds a childlike quality, like the little girl in Frankenstein that gets tossed in the lake. Way cool!

Fleabag dotdotdotdot
Surf (Instrumental)

A wild melody line plays against barking dogs for a very cool track. The melody and structure are very vintage.

Slow Tide dotdotdot
Surf (Instrumental)

"Slow Tide" is a softly sow song with a commanding loudness that delivers the soft melody. Sounds like a contradiction, but it's not. Moody and very aquatic.

Spinning Boards dotdotdotdot
Surf (Instrumental)

Deep rich guitar against groovy piano ride above bass and drums that are right where sixties tracks from the Chantays and the Super Stocks resided. A great track with the ring of surf truth about it.

Surf Encounter dotdotdotdot
Surf (Instrumental)

The sound of shore break brings on the heavily reverb damped guitars in a rhythmically enticing number with cool piano and solid bass. This is a little like Al Casey, but not so dark.

Surfville dotdotdotdot
Surf (Instrumental)

A riff born of the first era runs with excellent muted reverb and an infectious rhythm. "Surfville" is a real vintage retrograde with a very friendly sound.
