The Surfin' Lungs - Goin' To Rockinghamdotdotdot
artworkIt's been too long since the last release from the Surfin' Lungs. While their fine instros are a minor part of their set, they are among the few bands that launched from the California Beach Pop sound that didn't get syrupy with their harmonies. You might say they are somewhere between the Barracudas and the Malibooz. I thoroughly enjoy their vocal material, and love the reward of a few instros to top it off.
Picks: The Godfather, Flashpoint, Fajitas

Track by Track Review

The Godfather dotdotdotdot
Surf (Instrumental)

This version of "The Godfather" sports thick whammy and a solid beat. It retains the sadness, but adds power and a watery feel. The dribbling double picked middle section makes you wanna order a pizza to go.

Flashpoint dotdotdot
Surf (Instrumental)

The melody line in "Flashpoint" could be right outta the eighties Austin instro scene. Nicely developed, progression based, and warm, this instro captures optimism with a bit of edge. Very nice track.

Fajitas dotdotdot
Surf (Instrumental)

Shouts of "Fajitas" punctuate this fun in the sun jammer. It reminds me just a bit of the Beach Nut's "Surf Report," with similar unpretentious fun.
