The Surfaris - Hit City '65dotdot
artworkThis fourth album for Decca really marked the beginning of the end of the Surfaris as we knew them. Except for their fifth folk rock album, this features little by the band, except for Ron Wilson. According John Blair's authoritative Illustrated Discography Of Surf Music 1961-1965, nearly all of the vocals were sung by Gary Usher, who produced the album, accompanied by Bill Cooper, Joe Kelly, and Chuck Girard. It sports only one instro, which is a Richard Burns composition (the original Richie Podolor demo can be heard on a couple of the Super Stocks CD's).

Surf (Instrumental)

The Richard Burns track that's been covered often. It came to the Surfaris sessions pretty late, and has much of the intended flair. Ron Wilson was still doing it with his band until his death. It's really cool.
