Track by Track Review

Blow John dotdotdot
Surf (Instrumental)

An interesting percussion line with a cycling guitar riff and thumping bass. Some very tasteful double picking between verses, spiffy glissandos, and some groovy whammy too. "Blow John" is unusual and spirited.

The Gutto dotdotdotdot
Surf (Instrumental)

Great drums and bass run beneath two gritty and engaging guitars. The composition is playful, with a very original beat and infectious arrangement. Whammy, power drive, and a wholly infectious cadence.

Simeri Kriki dotdotdotdot
Surf (Instrumental)

A cool guitar riff double picked with flair in a very complimentary arrangement. "Simeri Kriki" is fiery and infectious with stubble. It starts out interesting and quickly engages, then pulls you in. Quite fun. Even the faux "Wipe Out" reference is cool.

Leaving Salamanca dotdotdot
Surf (Instrumental)

Soft liquid guitar lines mysteriously portray a late night adventure. A bit of an island image, but mostly romantic and pretty.

El Bruto dotdotdot
Surf (Instrumental)

"El Bruto" is a goofy number with a playful, almost lumbering cartoon like structure. Excellent drums and original thinking.

Singapore Twist dotdotdot
Surf (Instrumental)

Fast-echoed drums and a circular riff create a playful sound. Occasional chop chords and a fine bass counter melody add to the mix. "Singapore Twist" is light hearted and a bit silly.

Claido dotdotdotdot
Surf (Instrumental)

Sensual tribal drums and tremolo emotion provide a very cool foundation for a delicate and fluid melody. "Claido" is a fine instro with an engaging sound. Hints of the islands and undulating hips.

Spy The Yo dotdotdotdot
Surf (Instrumental)

Fast and bouncy, with a cycling bass and fuzz pattern, and a frantic beat. "Spy The Yo" is rapid spy all the way.

Bella Ciao dotdotdotdotdot
Surf (Instrumental)

"Bella Ciao" begins with slow liquid chords in wonderful reverb. Then the drums come on, the bass pumps and slides, and the ska rhythm makes it grin. The lead is double picking a Mediterranean melody. The break slows down and soars with huge echo and psychedelic hall flights of fancy. This is rather infectious!

Sioux dotdotdotdotdot
Surf (Instrumental)

A spaghetti western whistle and tremolo chords call to the desert until a wonderful beat and bass line come in to support a lovely melody. "Sioux" is rich sounding, very well arranged, and highly enjoyable. I found myself coming back to this track wanting more!

Doner dotdotdotdot
Surf (Instrumental)

Cool fairly rapid drums and playful guitar duets meander in and out of Mediterranean themes. Occasionally reminiscent of The Treble Spankers, "Doner" is a splendid piece of music with wonderful arranging.

Bye Bye Bamboo dotdotdotdot
Surf (Instrumental)

"Bye Bye Bamboo" is fast surf instro with some straight double picked forward parts and some easy floating notes too. The guitars trade front duties and play off each other well. Quite fun and well thought out.
