| This is a very good CD of unusual modern sounds. The vocals are dramatic but not pompous, and the rhythms are funky and exotic without being trite. The overall sound is tense, unique, and refreshingly strong. The drummer is LA legend Dusty Watson, without whom (plus Jeff Utterback and Pete Curry), few LA surf bands would exist. His drumming helps form the root sound of Agent Orange, Slacktone, and Jon & the Nightriders. This CD has one lone instro on it, and it's not surf, but it fits very nicely into a surf set, as I discovered on my show. A solid CD. |
