Sonodrom Express - Demodotdotdot
artworkSeven demo tracks from Sonodrom Express showing promise. While they are all covers, they have arranged most of them with an entirely new vision that gives them fresh life. I like the direction the band is taking here, and look forward to some really good studio tracks.
Picks: Lonely Sea, Double-0 Seafoam, Pipeline, Traitor Vic

Track by Track Review

Lonely Sea dotdotdot
Surf (Instrumental)

This is a very nice version of the Ventures' "The Lonely Sea." I builds very slowly to the melody. The sound is quite thin and unbalanced, but the arrangement and playing are very good.

Double-0 Seafoam dotdotdot
Surf (Instrumental)

How often do you hear the Neptunas's covered? Sonodrom Express play this with the feeling the girls gave it, and with more finesse. Moody and dark.

Pipeline dotdotdotdot
Surf (Instrumental)

"Pipeline" just always pleases. Rhythmically engaging with simplicity, and with a long gradually building introduction, Sonodrom Express give it a dramatic twist and moody color. A very original arrangement.

Shot In The Dark dotdotdot
Surf (Instrumental)

Henry Mancini's quirky "A Shot In The Dark" is morphed a bit for a fresher sound. It fits well into Sonodrom Express' set. Not as original sounding as their other arrangements, but different enough.

Spy vs. Spy dotdotdot
Surf (Instrumental)

Rumba or tango de la espionage... "Spy vs. Spy" is engaging and fun. It's the Combustible Edison song. Fitting for the band.

Experiment In Terror dotdotdot
Surf (Instrumental)

Slow and tortured drama oozes from Henry Mancini's "Experiment In Terror." It moves so very slowly that it creates significant tension.

Traitor Vic dotdotdot
Surf (Instrumental)

The Tiki Tones' catchy little number is grumbly and tribal. "Traitor Vic" is ominous and sports great drums. Drama and silliness coexist.
