The Sir Finks - Devil's Agentdotdotdotdot
artworkThis is the initial offering from Austin's Sir Finks. The wait has been worthwhile. Three solid tracks, good writing, great playing, and chunky trad sounds. This is a really good band, artful and pure damped surf, with solid melodies and playfully delicate power.
Picks: The Ugly Surfer, Castaway, Devil's Agent

The Ugly Surfer dotdotdot
Surf (Instrumental)

Pure fantastic trad surf. The damped leads and percussive attack make this very enjoyable. The band scream and shout, clearly having too much fun playing this exceptional track. Strong melody, and a sense of the Fireballs, but more percussive. Great!

Castaway dotdotdotdot
Surf (Instrumental)

This is the most delightful track here. It has a profoundly percussive and beautifully damped lead guitar, and trad tone throughout. This is the track I keep coming back to on this disc. The melody is friendly and has that sixties Paul Johnson lilt to it. Really good tune, and excellent performance. The Three Bells sequence in the beak is too cool! Love this track!

Devil's Agent dotdotdotdot
Surf (Instrumental)

Slow sinewy wet spy surf. Very cool and endearing. The shimmer is gorgeous. A great trad track to inspire surf espionage. Gentle and appealing.
