|With members in common with Savage Republic, along with a number of other inland Southern California bands of the mid eighties, 17 Pygmies have remained a favorite of mine. Their sullen and very original sound culminated in the eerie depressing "From Theo," and also included one superb surfadelic instro.|
17 Pygmies have included Philip Drucker aka Jackson Del Rey, Robert Loveless, Debbie Spinelli, Jeff Brenneman, Dirk Doucette, Meg Maryatt, among others.

Undulating Tribal Post Modern Surf (Instrumental)
This instro employs surf reverb rhythm guitar pumping out a writhing tempo matched by tribal drums. Melody is carried by very cool keyboard sounds that alternate between cool sustain and percussive, almost marimba like runs. This is surfable in a dangerously ominous way, and is deviously psychedelic too with long sustain-feedback disturbances in the second half. "Lawrence of Arabia" is not at all traditional, but it is very intriguing.
