Phil Dirt - Reverb Central - PO Box 1609, Felton, CA 95018-1609 USA Satan's Satellites - Dope Run

 | Satan's Satellites deliver two four minute instros with varying degrees of interest. The drummer and bass player rock, and the lead guitar is sometimes very cool, sometimes too jammy. the organ is overbearing in the mix, but vital to the music. |
Picks: Dope Run, Mystery Shifter
Track by Track Review
Rock (Instrumental)
The motors rev up, and they're off! Organ beneath guitar grind over pumped drums and grumbly bass. Quite a bit of jam guitar noodles over a progression. Not very memorable due to the lack of a real melody and too much organ in the mix.
Near Surf (Instrumental)
"Mystery Shifter" is closer to surf, with its spooky space riffs and rolling organ under splashy whammy and clean guitar tone. The rhythm is infectious, and the mix relatively complimentary. The bass works hard, creating interesting circular runs against tuff drums. Pretty nice track.
