Phil Dirt - Reverb Central - PO Box 1609, Felton, CA 95018-1609 USA The Sadies - In Concert Volume One

 | Two CD's yielding 9 instrumentals that are country cool. Some are very much like those issued by Nashville West, and others more traditional - even bluegrass. A few of the vocals are cool too, such as the nifty cover of Pink Floyd's Lucifer Sam. |

Track by Track Review
Country (Instrumental)
Super cowpoke fun, rampaging rhythms, and great plucking here. Melodic, infectious, and visual. You can almost smell the manure on the bottom of your shoe. Really fun track.
Country (Instrumental)
Surf based western rompin' vibrato twango, in some ways reminiscent of Sweden's Bottle Ups. It has an intense throb about it, and a melodic lead line. Excellent.
Country (Instrumental)
The same tune as "16 Mile Creek," but with banjo, fiddle, and acoustic guitar for that authentic breakdown sound. Tasty.
Country (Instrumental)
This is a tasteful spaghetti western instro with great drums and some fine double picking. Lots of spunk and cactus smells emanate from "Lay Your Guns Down." A great track!
Country (Instrumental)
"Uncle Larry's Breakdown" is a spirited banjo & fiddle breakdown that's mighty fun, if not particularly melodic and memorable. Hard not to like.
Country (Instrumental)
This instro reminds me a lot of Nashville West the band and the song from the Byrds. Very very similar in so many ways, yet refreshing and uplifting. Great guitar licks and country whine.
Country (Instrumental)
Intense cowchunk twang. This is entirely fun, vibrato cool, spaghetti sauce smooth, and very listenable. Big guitar twang, and a bunch of energy. very nice track.
Country (Instrumental)
With fiddles at thirty paces, the Sadies square off with a fine barn dance reel for the modern age. Fun, and in a classic country vein.
Country (Instrumental)
Merging modern guitar tones and Enio Morricone's penchant for women coral accompaniment, this fine short blast (1:32) is downright infectious. It's cowpoke rhythm and beat rolls right along, and the cool cactus sounds sneak right into your saddlebags without even a whimper. Fine track.
