The Rhythm Rockers - Twang c/w Crisisdotdotdot
artworkThe Rhythm Rockers (Lanesboro, Minnesota) issued this single in 1961 via the legendary Gaity label. While neither side is essential, both exemplify the sound of Midwest rock instrumentals just before surf emerged.
Picks: Twang, Crisis

Track by Track Review

Twang dotdotdot
Rock (Instrumental)

Loosely Duane Eddy inspired, this thick and intense number has a decent melody riff, and a very heavy overall sound. Mean and nasty, full throated backwoods jam. Lanesboro, Minnesota was home to the Rhythm Rockers. "Twang" was cut in 1961.

Crisis dotdotdot
Rock (Instrumental)

"Crisis" is a sorta splashy riff rocker of the precursor to surf variety. Near surf tone, and minimal progressions as many early surf instros were. This is a decent track with flair and spunk, and stands up to repeated listening.
