Los Relampagos - Los Relampagosdotdotdot
artworkThis 4-song ep is OK, with neither b-side side song making the grade. I don't think it's among Los Relampagos' better work.
Picks: Alborada Gallega, Bailarina de Espana

Track by Track Review

Alborada Gallega dotdotdot
Flamenco Based Surfish Soft Rock (Instrumental)

Almost hinting of very early Pearls Before Swine aurally, this makes for a strange semi carnival backdrop, more than a wash of scenery, less than a main focus. It is strangely magnetic, in an off balance kinda way.

Bailarina de Espana dotdotdot
Flamenco Based Surfish Soft Rock (Instrumental)

Another slightly Shadows influenced tune, like maybe the Challengers might do it, but cleaner sound and more authentic flamenco influences, plus a minuet overlaid for the shear contrast. Quite interesting.

Vacaciones en Espana dotdot
Surf (Instrumental)

"Vacaciones en Espana" is a bit like a light weight version of The Tornados' "Ridin' The Wind." Slightly more echoed guitar, but organ lead and a similar beat and rhythm, and a whole lot less energy and personality.

Nocturno dotdotdot
Surf (Instrumental)

"Nocturno" has a "James Bond" rhythm pattern and very slow pace, coupled with gentle organ lead. Very relaxed, with occasional sparkling chords and minor flurries of double picking. The melody is sad and reverent.
