 | Aside from its obscurity and the surf title, Night Surfing c/w Thunder are nothing really special, but it does offer some solid playing and excellent energy on the a-side. |
Picks: Night Surfin', Night Surfin' (alternate)
Track by Track Review
Rock (Instrumental)
The a-side, "Night Surfing" is a rock jam with organ lead on some verses, and southern guitar on others, and a low brow sax on the rest. The drums roll and guitar in the break is very cool, and in the end, it's a pretty decent single with spirit.
Thunder
Instrumental Rock (Instrumental)
"Thunder" is a slow moving sax and organ number that really wants to be Booker T. and the MG's, but doesn't even get inside the city limits.
Rock (Instrumental)
This alternate of "Night Surfing" is less polished, perhaps a demo. It's a rock jam with southern guitar. The drums roll and guitar in the break is very cool.
