Pollo Del Mar - XMas2K4Udotdotdotdotdot
artworkThis is Pollo Del Mar's holiday release. It didn't get to me in time for last year's December issue of Reverb Central. It only spent 4 months in the US mail thanks to the Santa Cruz Post Office. Fresh and spectacular, this is an essential holiday release. It sports an MPEG video for extra measure taken at the annual Bay To Breakers run.
Picks: Carol Of The Bells, Little Drummer Boy

Carol Of The Bells dotdotdotdotdot
Xmas Surf (Instrumental)

Slowly rising from the softest of places, haunted and eerie, this very fine version of this classic is utterly gorgeous. Playing in precise meter, Pollo Del Mar deliver an emotional and fluid performance. Their guitar tones add immeasurably to this dramatic melody. By the time they get to the hard rockin' end, you're ready stoked for the red-suited fat man.

Little Drummer Boy dotdotdotdot
Surf (Instrumental)

"Little Drummer Boy" speaks with a funky bass and rhythmic percussion of a long road fraught with darkness and evil. Great imagery, and very powerful. This belongs in a film. This is the same track as "The Saracen Gift" from their incredible The Devil and the Deep Blue Sea CD.
