Los Plantronics - Organic Voodoo Soupdotdotdot
artworkWell now, Organic Voodoo Soup certainly presents a really loud image of Los Plantronics. Intensity and really interesting blends of surf and Stax-Volt soul and spaghetti and more. Very adventurous.
Picks: (Intro) Voodoo Soup, Cin-A-Delico, Mr. Stiff H&R, Let's Boo-Ga-Loo!, Black Cactus Stampede, Cpt. Atletico, Hieronymus Bosch, Stax Delirium

Track by Track Review

(Intro) Voodoo Soup dotdotdot
Surf (Instrumental)

A few seconds of heavy psychedelic noise rising through intense tremolo and thunder segues into "Cin-A-Delico."

Cin-A-Delico dotdotdotdot
Surf (Instrumental)

"Cin-A-Delico" is a loud, raucous track with fire in the its belly and a giant sound. Parts of it are fluid pop-like, but extra loud, parts Blues Project-like with flute, others reminiscent of The Mutants, and still others just plain heavy!

Mr. Stiff H&R dotdotdot
Surf n Soul (Instrumental)

Howling difficulty with dangerous night creatures like frogs, then drums born of "Journey To The Stars," and finally large funky horns and rhythm chunk. "Mr. Stiff H&R" is very much like a Stax-Volt translation of surf.

Horn Interlude dot
Surf (Instrumental)

Yup, just as you might expect...

Let's Boo-Ga-Loo! dotdotdot
Surf n Soul (Instrumental)

Raunchy soul struttin' honkin' sub surf raw power. Yikes, this is a loud and jammin' Southern Soul monster.

Black Cactus Stampede dotdotdotdotdot
Spaghetti Surf (Instrumental)

Spaghetti western cowboy twango, with howling fuzzy growls. "Black Cactus Stampede" is big, pumped with power, and very cool. Its intense soundscape is utterly commanding, and its scenic sweep very visual.

Cpt. Atletico dotdotdotdot
Surf (Instrumental)

exotic bongos and trashy guitar pour out sixties go-go soul riffs. Great drums, gutty glissandos, and an intense aural ride.

Bollywood Orphant dotdot
Surf (Instrumental)

Exotic drums and percussion, eastern horn, and really short.

Hieronymus Bosch dotdotdotdot
Surfadelic (Instrumental)

Splendidly gritty psychedelic tremolo and howling guitar torture, along with a very big sound transition into dangerous soul and glissando mariachi. Extra thick and ominous.

Stax Delirium dotdotdotdot
Surf n Soul (Instrumental)

Yeah, the Stax label's influence has been here throughout the set, but this angular gritty guitar and organ pumper does more than name that influence. Rough-textured glissandos and heavy wound launched from the core of the Volt side of the house. Huge.

The Battle of Crete dotdotdot
Surf (Instrumental)

Extremely thin sound carries two guitars playing a splendid spaghetti western epic that really deserves a full-bodies arrangement. Superb piece of music severely held back by brittle sound.
