Phil Dirt - Reverb Central - PO Box 1609, Felton, CA 95018-1609 USA | Plank is a new band from Seattle. Their sound shows the effects of years of grunge, but also has some splendid surfisms that overcome all that. Three instros, and two vocals. The drums are too compressed for my taste, but in the context of the track, it works quite well. The bass is generally too loud and thin to my taste as well. However, the tracks mostly seem to work. I particularly liked Cyber Surf. |
Picks: Cyber Surf, Sex Wax, Sea Monster

Surf (Instrumental)
Big long stretched note fuzz and chunk guitar, Davie Allanesq surfisms in lower octaves. A powerful track loaded with glissandoes appropriately place.
Surf (Instrumental)
Like a chunk version of Johnny Kool and the Rattlesnakes. This tune grinds along without much melody, but the energy seems to carry it off anyway. The guitar is totally compressed and chunky.
Surf (Instrumental)
Very cool fuzz, slow mean guitar. The song is structured with fast / slow transitions like eighties punk.
