|Boy howdy! The promise of the Neptunes' earlier demo has been surpassed! This is an excellent disc, with wonderful tunes, lots of powerful infectious energy, and rapidly developed maturity. Highly recommended crunchy surf from landlocked Fresno.|

Track by Track Review
A heavy "Squad Car" drum beat and a plucky whammified lead line coolly intertwine. The playful melody line is well counter balanced by the bass. Quite infectious.
Crunchy Surf (Instrumental)
Crunchy surf tune with an infectious melody line. Dry guitars. Very cool listening.
Crunchy Surf (Instrumental)
Crunchy surf, infectious melody line, dry guitars, ominous.
Suave Surf (Instrumental)
Surfified suave with twang and glimmer. "Beguiled" is warm, and very enjoyable. More than just a good idea, it's the law.
With extra sausage, this attitudinal number has a hint of pasta in it's core, but on the surface, it's just plain grindy wham. Speedy double picked lines and an almost silly little riff that just sticks in your mind like the commercial you don't wanna remember. Excellent.
Heavy Surf (Instrumental)
Extra heavy surf, storm threatening coast pounder stinging whammy, and an intense sound. Melodic and tribal, dangerous and piercing.
Fluid misty morning redwood grove surf, with a very pretty melody and lots of style. There's a classic feel to the melody line, almost like some of the Sandals early material. This is an excellent track, no doubt about it.
From supercells drop tornadoes. This echoed plucky number is menacing yet somewhat playful. Must be 'cause the storm cloud is at a safe distance in someone else's neighborhood.
Plucky Surf (Instrumental)
Glissandoes open and the tune is quite cool. A bit of Nashville and delayed notes. Plucky and memorable.
Dance Of The Moorish Idol
"Dance Of The Moorish Idol" is suave and displays the Moors in a tribal light, playful and carefree. A well written number. It's big and epic in a sweeping emotional way. Very cool!
New Frontier Surf (Instrumental)
As moons go, Io must be a great place to surf, since this fine track sports such a solid surf feel. Picturesque melodic adventurous surf for the new frontier.
Strolling Surf (Instrumental)
The Silencers' vibrato shimmer masterpiece is reinterpreted for the Central Valley. Strolling down the walkway of life, with Link Wray just ahead. Lumbering coolness.
Mean, almost like a Link Wray thing, with menacing dark tone. Dramatic, enticing, whammified, and approaching evil. Deliberately paced, with metronomic drum precision, and thundering bass. Mighty fine track.
Playful island images, swimming whammy, melodic verandah moods, and a bottle of Pacifico to ward off any notion of work.
Dark crunchy and dangerous, like the thin black line that grows behind you to become a major tube, a line that will pulverize you into the sand at the bottom if you don't heed the warning and take off at the right time.
Crunch Surf (Instrumental)
Slowish, stinging, melodic twango, with a solid power and a pretty feel. Yep, both mean and pretty cohabit this interesting number.
