 | It's sad that the vinyl noise distorts the high end so much, because this is a very nice record. The writing is quite sophisticated in spots, not unlike that of the Mermen's Jim Thomas or the (California) Surf Kings' Tom Stanton. It's way past due for these guys to issue some material. maybe I can worm a DAT out of them for air play... |
Picks: Six Gun, Slater's Surf, Little Nasty, Spyder-Man
Track by Track Review
Surf (Instrumental)
A bit of "Secret Agent Man" and an edgie relentless guitar riff provide a big sound.
Surf (Instrumental)
This is a really cool tune, like the sort of thing Jim Thomas or Tom Stanton might write, but not that sort of sound. Coolness abounds.
Surf (Instrumental)
If Jim Thomas had written "Surf Rider," it would sound like this. It's big and cool and the vibrato parts are nice. The ominous elements are... well... scary.
Spyder-Man
Surf (Instrumental)
Too riffy for my tastes.
