Phil Dirt - Reverb Central - PO Box 1609, Felton, CA 95018-1609 USA | For demos from the web in wholly original arrangements. Experimental and almost silly at times, yet very gutsy and scary too. The use of kazoo is quite interesting, though not as electric as Mint Tattoo back in '69. |
Picks: Incienso Y Mentas, Bingo, Hasta Luego, Senor Moto

Kazoo Surf (Instrumental)
This is too fun! A band formed from the ashes of surfbands and seminal garage psych bands covered as surf kazoo! Strawberry Alarmclock's "Incense And Peppermints" is demented and strange and too cool to miss. Big grins, especially born on the shoulders of the kazoo.
Rock (Instrumental)
"Bingo" is a basic riff rocker, with fuzz and drums dominating. It doesn't really go anywhere, but it does have magnetism because of the great drums and darkness of the guitars. Borrowed riffs also give it a familiar feel.
Surf (Instrumental)
Extra dark fuzz and dangerous kazoo - really! I wouldn't have thought that was possible, but here it is. The song is directionless riff rocker, but it's so very dark!
Surf (Instrumental)
Paul Johnson' "Mr. Moto" is dark-fuzzed, with plinking piano a la Jim Roberts, and a dangerous edge. The contrast between the classic piano and the fuzz is enticing. Very cool!
