Phil Dirt - Reverb Central - PO Box 1609, Felton, CA 95018-1609 USA The Mono-Tones - Surfrockorama

 | This 4 song website demo is done in a fairly traditional form. The Mono-Tones are from Tilburg, The Netherlands. This is the first outing. Some work still needs to be done on production, but the sound is there! |
Picks: Tarantinula, 50 Bucks A Midget, Pier Pressure, Surf Party
Track by Track Review
Surf (Instrumental)
In the style of many early surf instros, "Tarantinula" circulates a splashy riff, but it's more than that implies, with modern chunk rhythm and dark bass, and lots of coolness. Reverb splash and surf energy.
Surf (Instrumental)
The Penetrators' very cool "50 Bucks A Midget" is done with great reverence and style. The song is a good choice for the Mono-Tones' style of playing.
Surf (Instrumental)
The Chantays' nineties tune is well adapted to the Mono-Tones, with more splash than the big guitar anthemic sound of the original. Still dark , but more traditional sounding.
Surf (Instrumental)
The Astronauts's classic film score gets another rebirth, this time in a very reverent style that could easily have been concurrent with the original. Very nice track.
