The Mockers - The Mockers in Smells Like Spaindotdotdotdot
artworkI hooked up with the Mockers via my interest in the Surf Piranhas. I had posted some comments about theSurf Piranhas on Cowabunga, and Seth Gordon replied saying that an ex-Surf Piranha was in his band, the Mockers. They are based in Virginia, and usually do an aggressive power-popish melodic rock. Their last CD remains in my player, after several years. This is a CD ep which contains one great surf instro and some really solid rockin' stuff. I am particularly partial to the fiery rendition of Richard Berry's "Have Love Will Travel." As an aside, the CD also includes some spoken introductions from Jesus Ordovas of Radio 3, Spain (Radio National De España).

Their new logo is just about the funniest thing I've seen in years. Not just the parody of those personal items for the feminine set, but with the penchant for rockers to suggest intimate sexual acts, what could be more " in there" without being sexual. Totally cool!

Surf (Instrumental)

Ex-Surf Piranhas guitarist Tony Leventhal brought this surf instro to the Mockers, and they do a damn fine job with it. It's big, melodic, edgy, and way cool. Hot feisty playing and screams of joy permeate the track. Very strong.
