The McFadden Parachute - Supernovadotdotdotdot
artworkThere's nothing traditional about the way the McFadden Parachute sees the surf. An extension of their Electric Prunes on acid Seeds inverted sixties garage sound, the two instros on this CD stand out like electric storms at high tide. Totally unique interpretations of the genre.
Picks: Kahuna Twist, Petrification

Track by Track Review

Kahuna Twist dotdotdotdot
Psychedelic Surf (Instrumental)

Throbbing stereo vibrato guitars deliver a very surfable riff with a kind of inverted Link Wray at the beach sound. The guitars dominate, while the drums pound and the bass booms. Much more about the throb than melody, yet very effective. "Kahuna Twist" is a monstrous blend of post surf go go and surf shimmer gone intense.

Petrification dotdotdotdot
Psychedelic Surf (Instrumental)

Vibrato throbbed glissandoes and psychedelic surf shimmer, dark into the rocks danger, and almost Seeds-like warped intensity. "Petrification" throbs in a murky world of near cacophonous relentlessness. There's nothing liquid about it, yet it surely brings up images of the surf on a bad day.
