artworkThis is more fun than it has a right to be. The drums and bass are rockin' and fun. The guitar meanders through surf and European sounds, and the organ is played like there's no worry anywhere. It's a long way from trad surf, or any modern strain, yet it's just too cool. If you go in expecting anything you've heard before, or looking for tuff surf rage, you'll be disappointed. But if you have a sense of humor and adventure, you'll find some brilliant musical moments here. Stunningly original. The one vocal is a set to "California Girls."

Track by Track Review

Klinik unter Tannen dotdotdot
Pop Rock Surf (Instrumental)

The last century organ playfully pops a backdrop to the poppiness of "Klinik unter Tannen," which sports a very cool melody line like a Hollywood pop inversion of surf at the Fillmore. Very uplifting!

Weibwasser dotdotdotdot
Surf (Instrumental)

"Weibwasser" is a surf instro with a flighty organ lead and a really friendly almost childlike quality. Nearly impossible to dislike, or refrain from grinning at, it's incredibly innocent and cool! Too much!

Rinalde dotdotdot
Carnival Surf (Instrumental)

Carnival clowns on parade, whistling a bouncy melody and playful sound. Unbelievable.

Gitarre sub-sauer dotdotdot
Surf (Instrumental)

"Gitarre sub-sauer" sports a fluid melody line and soft sound, with that amazingly fun organ offsetting the surf guitar. Entirely fun and warm. Beautifully whammied guitar and whistling organ.

Baoumba dotdotdot
Surf (Instrumental)

This track opens with surf guitar, bounces into a combo organ cooler with a chanted rhythm. No doubt they had too much Chianti when they wrote this... that's not bad, just fun. Some brilliant stuff here!

Hupe dotdotdot
Pop Organ Rock (Instrumental)

Like a lightweight Booker T. and the MG's, "Hupe" bounces and souls it's way through verse after verse of playful bouncy fun.

Unterwegs zum Beatclub dotdotdot
Pop Rock Surf (Instrumental)

This light rock surf 'n' soul groover is like the Sandals at the carnival. "Unterwegs zum Beatclub" is way fun, smooth, bouncy, and infectious.

Kapt'n Past dotdotdot
Nuthouse Rock (Instrumental)

"Kapt'n Past" is spunky, fast, and full-tweaked with electro weirdness. Nuthouse cotton candy wah wah swirlwind stormy cartoon imagination... way cool!

Spuren im Watt dotdotdotdot
Vacation Surf (Instrumental)

Mall organ fun, a fine sub-surf Euro guitar lead, and a sense of summer vacation in Europe. "Spuren im Watt" is mighty fluid, pretty, innocent, fun, and too cool.

Drauben am groben Riff dotdotdotdot
Pop Surf (Instrumental)

Euro twang, surf whammy, drama, and pumping organ. Great surf guitar, infectious sound, and a carefree oceanic sound.

Dr. Steins schwerster Fall dotdotdotdot
Combo Surf (Instrumental)

The delicate surf guitar under the Jimmy Smith single organ, both over a basic solid rock beat and bass rumble, create a splashy poppy sound that's very fun. The guitar solos are really nice.

Junge, ledige Krabben dotdotdot
Pop Rock Surf (Instrumental)

Great delicate surf guitar, swirling organ, carnival stops, exotic percussion, and a tight bass line... "Junge, ledige Krabben" is like a groovy soul instro single of the early sixties transmuted into a bouncy surf party. Nice track.

Out Of Horben dotdotdotdotdot
Pop Rock Surf (Instrumental)

Exotica birdcalls and bongos, Hawaiian-esq guitar hinting of "Yellow Bird," and a liquid sunshine island sound. "Out Of Horben" is a stunningly cool track! Slow and pretty, and very unusual. I love it!
