 | Argentina' Los Kahunas have put together a great set of music here. The originals are well written, the covers not all that common, and the playing really good. Great reverb, wonderful glissandos, and lost of spunk. The ambient drums are the only negative. This is a fine release chock full of real surf music. |

Surf (Instrumental)
"6G15" (the classic Fender outboard reverb tank) is a relatively pumping number with a dark sound. Not quite moody, but somewhat worrisome, with a fluid melody and very tuff low-E glissandos. Plenty of spunk here.
Surf (Instrumental)
The melody has a European flair, while the reverb chunk and glissandos are pure surf. The bridges are dark and dangerous, while the melody is more light hearted. Quite a cool song.
Surf (Instrumental)
"Deeper Than The Sea" is a s slow-to-mid tempo song with an island lagoon melody and rich imagery. It's both pretty and powerful. Lovely tremolo shimmer in the some verses adds to the pictures it conjures for your mind's eye.
Surf (Instrumental)
This is a very cool version of Lee Hazelwood's superb song, with dribbling glissandos and reverb chords. Slightly haunting, but more driving than that usually implies. The delicate tremolo verse is wonderful!
Surf (Instrumental)
Grand reverb drips of the muted notes and glissandos like water from a down-spout. The melody is well developed, as is the sense of chemistry. Love those glissandos!
Surf (Instrumental)
Freddy King's "Heads Up" is done with a straight surf arrangement. The result is a very listenable genre experience, especially in the break, where the muted reverb is very charming, and when the tom toms come in, well...
Surf (Instrumental)
PJ and the Galaxies' "Lanky Bones" is done with extreme reverence for the song, but brought into full reverb. It's funny how such a straight forward arrangement can be so pleasurable - likely a tribute to Paul Johnson's writing.
Surf (Instrumental)
Tremolo shimmer deliver a light hearted and slightly moody melody. The chords are really cool, and the melody carries you along. Great song.
The Rise And Fall Of Flingel Bunt

Surf (Instrumental)
The Shadows' "The Rise and Fall Of Flingel Bunt" is given the surfband treatment, giving a wetter sound. This is a gentle song anyway, and the reverb tends to smooth it out. Quite nice.
Surf (Instrumental)
This is a warm and emotionally satisfying song that treads lightly. It engages your pleasure senses and keeps you smiling throughout. Lovely island grass shack chords a la The Impacts' "Sea Horse" open "Candy Smile," but there the similarity ends.
Surf (Instrumental)
opening with motorcycle engines, "Dare Devil" moves right into a traveling song with a sense of risk. dripping reverb and superb glissandos, and lots of spunk! It gradually builds impact until it raises your pulse rate.
Surf (Instrumental)
Mel Taylor and the Magics' "The Creeper" is all dripped out in glorious reverb and thundering tom toms. Fuzz adds a bit of bite, but otherwise it's pure stomping fun with drum breaks. Very cool!
Surf (Instrumental)
"Verdemar" has a lovely melody and flows at an easy pace, conjuring images of light breezes through palms on a tropical island lagoon. Very nice track.
Surf (Instrumental)
Delicate acoustic guitar, a sense of Baja summer nights, and the light flow of a romantic Spanish ballad all give "Wave Of Love" a really nice feel. Just pretty and emotionally warm.
