Phil Dirt - Reverb Central - PO Box 1609, Felton, CA 95018-1609 USA Los Idolos Del Ring - Demo

 | Mexico's Los Idolos Del Ring cut these demos in a lo-fi vein, but they sure write interesting material. the ratings are reduced by one star because of the poor quality production and sound. Most of the music, however, is very cool and deserves a much better presentation. |
Picks: El Ataqye De Los Mummies, Pzyxhorama, La Bahia Del Esquela, Versus

Surf (Instrumental)
This lo-fi track displays an interesting band with very good writing and ideas. "El Ataqye De Los Mummies" has a blend of surf and desert and spaghetti influences, strained through Mexican garage attitude. It's a really cool song that starts off slow, but then pumps up with ample glissandos and big chords. very cool!
Surf (Instrumental)
With muted second guitar as if the "Pink Panther" was near, "Pzyxhorama" is a little stiff, but uses some very cool guitar weirdness that makes it very original. It's dark and ominous, yet compelling.
Surf (Instrumental)
This is kinda pumped and choppy, with goofy drums and stilted presentation. The musicianship is not as good as the rest of these recordings, but the guitar's intensity and whammy are very good.
Surf (Instrumental)
"Versus" is a basic riff rocker, with heavy tone and a relentless progression. Once the melody arrives, it's better. The verse with the dry muted chords is really cool.
