Shin Yung Hyun and Questions - In-A-Kadda-Da-Vidadotdotdotdot
artworkFirst disclaimer: no surf, OK!
Second disclaimer: still no surf!

Alright... but sometimes there are things out there that just demand highlighting. This is one of those times.

Beyond the fringes are remnants of the impact American music on the rest of the world, particularly after the British Invasion when the American garage bands and later heavy psychedelic acts spread like wildfire across the globe. Judging from this one piece of evidence, Shin Yung Hyun and Questions was a heavy soul and pop band. The whole second side of this rare live LP is a monster swirl of Iron Butterfly's epic jam "In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida." South Korean guitarist Shin Yung Hyun was joined by a guest vocalist at this show. All I can say is, OMG!

In-A-Kadda-Da-Vida dotdotdotdot
Psychedelic (Instrumental)

While this is neither as pompous nor psychedelic as Iron Butterfly's "In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida," it's as long and tortured and charmingly blurry as required. Long flights of wah wah on guitar amazingly compel you to stay with it for all sixteen and a half minutes. This is dirtier and less operatic, but it sure is a bruiser. Quite something!
