Phil Dirt - Reverb Central - PO Box 1609, Felton, CA 95018-1609 USA The Hydrosonics - Demo CD

 | This is the first outing for Belgium's Hydrosonics. These five tracks show a band that's tight and sports a great drummer. It's not all that often that cover demos rank, but this is one solid set. When's a whole CD coming? |
Picks: Shockwave, Storm Warning, The Savage, Redlined, High Voltage
Track by Track Review
Surf (Instrumental)
This is a very tasteful cover of Zorba and the Greeks' "Shockwave." Rich sound and great crashing reverb. It's a spunky and strong rendition with flair and style. Excellent.
Surf (Instrumental)
"Storm Warning" is a lighthearted traveling kind of instro that shines with the top down. Forward looking and adventurous in an innocent way. Great drums!
Surf (Instrumental)
This is a fine surf interpretation of the Shadows' "The Savage," a song not often adapted to the surf idiom. Rhythmic and sparkling with surf enthusiasm.
Surf (Instrumental)
The Penetrators' spunky "Redlined" is well covered, sporting great energy and flair. Very respectful and solid.
Surf (Instrumental)
Lots of energy here, very well played guitars and bass, and exceptional drums. A great and spunky cover of Jim Messina and the Jesters' "High Voltage."
