The Hydroids IV - MySpacedotdotdot
artworkThe dreadfully low 96k sample rate of these demos leaves a lot to be desired. Great performances and a ton of energy are minimized by dreadful sound. I continue to think The Hydroids IV are a band with a lot to offer. They really need to spend s few bucks on decent recording, mixing, and mastering to reach beyond the intentional lo-fi faux-garage band audience.
Picks: Hydro Robots, Sea Of The Ocean, Sunset Surf

Hydro Robots dotdotdotdot
Surf (Instrumental)

"Hydro Robots" is a pumped up number with a somewhat ominous melody and lots of splash. While this demo track has a very low sample rate, it still shows off the bands great energy. Oh for a great recording!

Sea Of The Ocean dotdot
Surf (Instrumental)

Horrid distortion and a very low sample rate render "Sea Of The Ocean" unlistenable, though I dare say the song under the mung shreds. Take a raging three-star song, give it zero stars for sound, and you get the idea.

Sunset Surf dotdotdot
Surf (Instrumental)

Fast and reverby as in water barrel. This is a pretty energetic romp through The Intrepides' "Golash," miscredited as The Truants' "Sunset Surf." One stupid bootleg comp got it wrong, and this is at least the third band using the wrong title as a result.
