 | Hot Boogie Chillun play "non-sentimental" rock 'n' roll, but with the tightness and maturity twelve years together breeds. There are three (well, two plus almost another) instros here that are worth the price alone. Great band, solid CD. |
Picks: Oh Well, Love And A 45, Penetration

Near Surf (Instrumental)
Peter Green's stunningly compelling "Oh Well" is mostly instrumental in its original form, with just a few vocal lines. Intact here, and with grinding power and rhythm. Not the tribal suave of the original, this is hot and intense. Great track!
There's also a companion video of "Oh Well" on the CD.
Rock (Instrumental)
"Love And A 45" is a rough and ready rock 'n' roll grinder. Organ break, edgy guitar leads, and a back street rawness.
Rock (Instrumental)
This is a very cool version of the Pyramids's "Penetration." It's all about the extreme vibrato, pulsing rapidly for extra Link Wray style edge. Some of the long sustained vibrato lines pan across the aural spectrum, adding a psycho edge to an already hard rockin' arrangement. Way cool!
