Track by Track Review

Boobytrap dotdotdotdot
Surf Jazz (Instrumental)

Tweaky slithery Shaft influenced funky stuff with superb bass and percussion. The progression of honks and squonks and guitaristry move through a very soul-induced groove. Imagine funk filtered through gnarly tubes and modern grooves running beneath a long barrel shot. Moody and inventive.

Forty Plus dotdotdotdotdot
Surf Jazz (Instrumental)

A heavy dark thunder, rich low guitar spy licks, honkin' sax, and a relentless rhythm paint a dangerous and delightful picture of outsiders on cold gray waters. Heavy, moody, rhythmic, and surfy in a very dangerous and slightly demented way. Way cool.

Polaris dotdotdotdotdot
Surf Jazz (Instrumental)

If you imagine a infusion of spacy tweak and sax'n'roll, jazz and surf, and a catchy riff, you might end up here. "Polaris" is mighty fun, and its circulating riffs guide you through adventure. Two guitars, bass, drums, sitar, keyboard weirdness, and sax, all meandering across a broad soundscape of intrigue and international adventure. Superb!

Fakin Bacon dotdotdotdotdot
Surf Jazz (Instrumental)

Dark and brooding, with large drama and moodiness. "Fakin Bacon" brought the Move's "Brontosaurus" to mind, but only in it's limbering character. While not for the purist, it's a superb track with psychedelic moments and engaging variations.

Low Mileage Booty dotdotdotdot
Surf Jazz (Instrumental)

This funky surf'n'soul excursion is pure pleasure. Subject matter aside, its honkin' squonkitude blend with surf guitars over a soul-funk rhythm track to make a superb aural adventure!

Le Grande Putannesca dotdotdotdotdot
Surf Jazz (Instrumental)

Galloping drums, deep surf guitar riffs, sparkling surf chords, and whistling organ combine in a most charming wash of sound. "Le Grande Putannesca" is a richly engaging track with superb drums and exceptional writing. Thoroughly cool!

The Switch dotdotdotdot
Surf Jazz (Instrumental)

Theremin weirdness and a rolling California cadence call to the surf from just beyond the bluffs. Adventurous, infectious, rhythmic, and - well - just plain fun!

Drive-By Fry dotdotdot
Surf Jazz (Instrumental)

A slow and lumbering cadence, rising Theremin wails, space tunings... very cool!

Booster dotdotdotdot
Surf Jazz (Instrumental)

A long slow string slide descends into an archetypal spy theme. Honkin' squawkin' and chumpin' with a grin. This sort of thing generally doesn't catch my fancy, but "Booster" is just to cool to not like!

Swamp Girl dotdotdotdot
Surf Jazz (Instrumental)

Great whammy chords, a John Barry feel, and a watery goodness that are irresistible. There's a sense of humor here that makes not liking it impossible. Great stuff!

The Trigger dotdotdotdot
Surf Jazz (Instrumental)

Mysterious and saucy, "The Trigger" is an angular, dangerous, dribbly surf, squonky sax spy epic that is quite unusual. Original and dramatic, and very cool!
